English 8 Strategies students wrote their first solo Schaffer paragraphs today. It was a bit of a challenge for first period because I did not do enough scaffolding (mea culpa), but we’ll correct that next Tuesday.

A couple of reminders for English 8 Strategies students: next Wednesday we’ll have a quiz on the -ing beginning sentences we’ve been working on, and next Friday we’ll have a small test on Schaffer and the argument.

English I Honors, finishing the short story unit a little earlier than expected, had a bit of reward day: instead of wrestling with short stories, irony, setting, untrustworthy narrators, and the like, we worked on logic puzzles.

Creative writing students branched out into a number of different tasks today: some were working on material for our class web site, some were working on material for our school web site, and some were consulting with me regarding their final draft that they turned in last week.

• English I Honors: complete the short stories project (on the Moodle site) by next Friday.
