First and fifth periods returned to the question of quotes, specifically working on in-text citations as we approach the end of “Flowers for Algernon” and begin our research project.

First and fifth periods' work (whole-class modeling)

First and fifth periods’ work (whole-class modeling)

Second and fourth periods finished up the Romeo and Juliet classwork by looking at the question of fate. We’ll finish up the work tomorrow, determining what role specifically fate plays in the work.

We’ll be watching Romeo + Juliet very soon (possibly starting Thursday), so the handful of students who haven’t brought back their permission slips need to do so ASAP.

Homework
  • First and fifth periods: none.
  • Second and fourth period: review notes and find at least five places in the play where a character (most likely Romeo) speaks of fate, destiny, or the stars.
