First and fifth periods took the first of two days in the computer lab writing their reviews of Nightjohn. Additionally, I altered the rubric of the project just a bit, adding a formatting strand:

Second and fourth periods worked on honing their close reading skills by analyzing a song by that classic eighties band, the Police. The song makes allusions to classical literature, including Scylla and Charybdis from the Odyssey.

Homework

• First and fifth periods: complete planning as necessary, for tomorrow is the last day you’ll have to work on the review.
• Second and fourth periods: read the section of the Odyssey entitled “The Cattle of the Sun God.”
