First and fifth periods continued working on concrete details from Nightjohn. We created new concrete details to back up the topic sentence about one character’s use of non-standard English being an indication of her social status (i.e., that she is a slave).

The Cask of AmontilladoSecond and fourth periods began looking at the question of whether or not all narrators are reliable. We initially looked at “In the Family” before turning to Poe’s classic “The Cask of Amontillado.”

Homework
  • First and fifth periods: none.
  • Second and fourth periods:
    • complete “A Cask of Amontillado”;
    • complete questions 1-4 at the end of the story;
    • add terms from “In the Family” to experimental vocabulary glossary. (This is in conjunction with yesterday’s vocabulary homework. See below.)
