First period dove into the dramatized version of The Diary of Anne Frank. Using the EQ, “What are the textual elements specific to drama,” we examined all the intricacies of dramatic texts — the stage directions, the implied tones, etc.

Second and sixth had another day of practice. In retrospect I’m not so sure we should have spent the day rehearsing, but several groups had significant breakthroughs in their planning, so it was worth it for the students to wrestle as a group with the text once more.

Fourth period finished reading act three. We’ll be cutting lines like crazy for homework, then sharing and discussing their cuts tomorrow. The quiz for act will be Wednesday.

Homework
  • First period: none.
  • Second and sixth periods: continue rehearsing lines at home.
  • Fourth period: finish cutting lines from provided copy of the scenes.
