Hughes Academy has implemented a schoolwide disciplinary policy. The consequences for wrong choices are, therefore, identical from teacher to teacher.
Infraction |
Consequence |
| First disciplinary incident | Redirction and log |
| Second disciplinary incident | Redirction and log |
| Third disciplinary incident | Counsel with student and log |
| Fourth disciplinary incident | Parent contact via email and/or phone and log |
| Fifth disciplinary incident | Conference with parent (and possibly team) and log |
| Sixth disciplinary incident | Referral and log |
It is important to understand that once a student reaches the sixth incident, all other incidents will be handled with a referral to the administrator.
Additionally, it is summative: each type of infraction is not counted separately. In other words, if a student is disruptive, that will be the first incident. If, later, the student is disrespectful, that will be the second incident. Using this example, there will not be separate accounting of different types of violation: first disruptive incident, second disruptive incident, first incident of disrespect, etc.
It is also critical to understand that there is no reset during the year. In other words, students don’t return to level zero at the beginning of the new quarter or semester.
