One of the most bothersome things a student can do in class is to get up to sharpen his/her pencil at the most inopportune time. Before getting up, make sure you use seat signals to get permission.

A few additional reminders:

1. Wait until no one is addressing the class.
2. Don’t chat on the way to or from the sharpener, or during the sharpening process.
3. Refrain from making comments about how well the pencil sharpener is working.
