English Studies continued with yesterday’s work on using context clues to determine a word’s meaning. We have four rules from yesterday that they began applying today:

  1. Look for synonyms/definitions
  2. Look for antonyms
  3. Look for relationship/transition words
  4. Determine the function of the word in the sentence

English Strategies read chapter three from Nightjohn and had a reader’s journal writing assignment based off it.

English I Honors students finished up your first story on the unreliable narrator and began the second story.

Homework

  • English 8 Studies: none.
  • English I Honors:
    • begin assessing the “Thank You, M’am” paragraph at the Moodle site;
    • finish “The Cask of Amontillado,” which is available at the Moodle site.
