English 8 Strategies students spent the day writing again. We’ll be having three days of intense writing this week so that when we switch to two days a week next week, we’ll have plenty to discuss in workshops (which will also be taking place at that time).

English I Honors students continued their split units. Fourth period students began asking the question of the trustworthiness of Scout as narrator. We’ll be working on this tomorrow as well. Sixth period students began working on an extended writing project for the Lord of the Flies unit, analyzing how we could apply Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to the novel.

Homework

  • English I Honors:
    • continue working on the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack project (first draft, 3 songs {6 paragraphs} 2 transitional paragraphs, due 17 February);
    • fourth period students: continue reading To Kill a Mockingbird (you’ll need to be through chapter 8 on Monday);
    • sixth period students:
      • study for the vocabulary quiz on chapters 1 and 2 , which will be Monday;
      • begin thinking about which TS you will use for the first LotF writing assignment (they’re available here)
      • continue reading chapter 3 and 4 (by Monday).
